With a colourful history of former tenants including an abattoir to the Governor of Victoria, an hardware store and a famous Irish pub. Working with and reviving the bones of the space defined our brief in creating a premium lifestyle destination in the heart of Essendon.

The façade adorned with beautiful arched windows and bi-folds, is brought inside with a newly configured scalloped terrazzo bar running the length of the space.  Bespoke blush bar stools contrast the ribbed navy bar whilst accents of bronze metal detailing layer up and add to the timeless aesthetic. Articulated use of botanical wallpaper and upholstery punctuate the space, providing a sense of intimacy within niches and illusion dividing spaces.

Curated lighting adds to the layered story of the space, up lighting retained timber panelling and beer barrels within booths. Existing brickwork provides the backdrop for the soft, warm glow which is omitted from the brass pendants throughout the space. Whilst a new neon sign highlights and pays homage to the new exciting venture that is The Essendon Hotel.
