The brief called for a fresh and energetic design direction, capable of offering a new Grill’d dining experience which exposed the theatre of the kitchen and offered varied seating environments.
The existing site parameters included curved external walls, a large internal volume and an abundance of natural light. The design concept sought to create a sense of both openness and intimacy, which was achieved with a series of vertical tree like structures which define areas of occupation. The geometry of the design was the result of carefully mapped sightlines into the kitchen, allowing spontaneous glimpses of the burger crafting process.
Shades of deep navy, warm timber and terracotta were teamed with angular metalwork and expanded mesh which formed the basis of the palette. Custom lighting and signage add a vibrant and playful layer of detail, creating an inviting and fun environment for both individuals and groups to socialise. This project was a collaboration with Samantha Eades.
